How it works
The tool searches for documents in a facility's own archive and presents them with a reference to the source document. Below, in order, is what happens between typing a description and getting a list of records.
A description against a description
Search inside a records program matches a string of characters. A record that says "painful shoulder syndrome" does not come back for "shoulder pain", because those words are not in it.
Here a description is compared with a description. Every document in your archive gets a numerical representation of what it says, the query gets one too, and the result is a measure of how close they are. That is why the same record comes back without sharing a single word with the query.
The cut-off, stated plainly
Similarity is a number between zero and one. Documents below the threshold are not shown, and the threshold sits beside the result rather than hidden in settings.
That is why the empty-result screen shows the arithmetic: how many records were searched, what the threshold was, and how close the best match came. It is not an error message but a statement that the system worked and that this archive holds nothing similar.
An empty archive gives an empty answer rather than an invented one.
A reference as the condition, not the decoration
The rule is built into the product rather than into its settings: if part of an answer has no reference to a particular record, it is not shown. The consequence is inconvenient and deliberate: for a query the archive has nothing close to, you see zero results.
A document can be opened, dated and attributed. A sentence generated "from the archive" cannot be checked against anything.
What the tool does not do
- it does not assess a patient's condition and does not propose a course of action
- it is not used for diagnosis or for making professional decisions
- it does not plug into your records program, it works on its export
- we do not train any model on your data
The limit of what it is for
The tool shows documents and nothing beyond that. The limit is not marketing caution. It follows from what the product is: a search over a set of records the facility itself wrote. Every professional activity concerning a patient, and every decision about how to proceed, remains with the staff.
